About
Sandy is a Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti and Bundjalung custodian and native title holder who works across stage, screen, publishing and the corporate sector as an actor, producer, writer and cultural consultant.
She holds a First-Class Honours Degree in Drama from the Queensland University of Technology and studied at the Atlantic Acting School in NYC, and the Groundlings in LA. She has also trained as a television producer under the leadership of Fiona Eagger from Every Cloud Productions.
Sandy founded production company, Jinda Productions in 2018 with the aim of telling stories from a female Indigenous perspective. Her first production, the critically acclaimed one-woman play Matriarch, which she wrote, directed and performed in, was nominated for a prestigious 2019 Green Room Award for Best Writing and won the accolade for Best Performer, Independent Theatre. Matriarch debuted at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2019 as part of the Deadly Fringe Program, winning both the SA & NSW Tour Ready Awards.
She has worked in the US as script consultant with veteran producer Bill McDonald and as First Nations cultural consultant for environmental organisation Global Mana, a not-for-profit based in California. Her numerous screenwriting credits include Indigenous storylines for independent feature films, short films, and corporate videos.
She has also written extensively for print & digital media and adapted classic Australian children's stories to include First Nations representation. Sandy has a publishing contract with Echo Publishing to write her memoir titled Matriarch.
A multi-award-winning actor and voice artist Sandy has performed with many of Australia’s leading theatre companies, including Belvoir St Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse Theatre, ILBIJERRI Theatre Co and Griffin Theatre Company. She has also performed at Seattle Children’s Theatre Company and made her US screen debut in Killer Elite alongside Robert de Niro, for which she received a Deadly Award nomination for Outstanding Actress.
Sandy recently narrated the Little Bird and Nicole Watson’s the Boundary for Audible and is well regarded for her authentic Aboriginal dialects and her US and British accents. She recently made her directorial debut with the documentary environmental film Nguura Muruy (Forest Camp) and is a recipient of a 2024 NSW Environment Award for Outstanding Commitment and Success in Conservation.

Sandy has been cast in Griffin Theatre Company’s Swim by Ellen Van Neervan and will tour to NSW, QLD and VIC in 2024.
Cultural Consultancy
Sandy's reputation as a skilled communicator has seen her consult with many diverse organisations and she is regularly called on to ensure authentic cultural representation of ancient and contemporary Indigenous culture, story, character and history.
She most recently wrote and consulted on a series of First Nations corporate training videos for Westpac with Australian filmmaker, Brendan Fletcher (Mad Bastards, Firebite, AMC) and was just asked to perform the Uluṟu Statement of the Heart for Telstra Vantage 2022 in Sydney.
